Danucera Diaries
Entry 24: Kristen Foote
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this edition of Danucera Diaries shines a light on women whose journeys remind us that self-care is an essential part of healing. At Danucera, we believe what you put on your skin matters — especially during and after treatment, when gentle, mindful care can make all the difference.
Today, we’re honored to share the story of Kristen Foote, a Philadelphia-based real estate expert, advocate, and longtime Rescue Spa client whose strength and grace embody resilience. After a 24-month journey through breast and ovarian cancer, including twelve surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation, Kristen emerged with a renewed perspective on wellness — embracing balance, mindfulness, and clean skincare as part of her recovery.
"...when Danuta came out with Danucera, I knew that it was going to raise the bar and she had created a line of products that were aligned with the best in the business, and I had to incorporate them in my routine..."

Tell us a little about yourself?
I’m Kristen Foote — born in California but raised all over Europe thanks to my parents’ diplomatic work. That international upbringing definitely gave me a love for culture, design, and architecture, which naturally led me into real estate. Based in Philadelphia and living in Rittenhouse Square for over 20 years I love helping people find homes that truly fit their lifestyle. Outside of work, you’ll usually find me trying out new restaurants, traveling whenever I can, or hanging out with my dog Monkey.
How do you feel during Breast Cancer Awareness month, is it a difficult time? An empowering time? How do you choose to participate, if at all?
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a time of mixed emotions for me—both challenging and empowering. I choose to participate actively, using my voice to raise awareness, support others, and foster community connections. Together, we can make a difference and inspire hope
Can you share a bit about your breast cancer journey, from diagnosis to recovery, and how it’s shaped who you are today?
My 24-month journey with breast and ovarian cancer has been a transformative experience from diagnosis to recovery. It all began when I discovered a lump during a mammogram, leading to a whirlwind of tests and the shocking confirmation of breast cancer. Shortly after, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer as well. The treatment process was challenging, involving 12 surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation, but I found strength in my support system of family, friends, and fellow survivors. Through physical recovery and emotional healing, I embraced a healthier lifestyle and became passionate about advocacy. This journey has taught me resilience, deepened my appreciation for life, and shifted my priorities towards health and meaningful connections. I’m committed to raising awareness about cancer and supporting research initiatives, as I continue to monitor my health and live life to the fullest.
Why do you choose Danucera for your skincare routine?
I have been going to Rescue Spa since the day it opened 20 years ago. I have entrusted Danuta and her team with my skin and relish the fact that I get many compliments on how beautiful and youthful my skin is. So, when Danuta came out with Danucera, I knew that it was going to raise the bar and she had created a line of products that were aligned with the best in the business, and I had to incorporate them in my routine.
Which is your favorite Danucera product and why?
I love the D22 Tonic and the Exfoligold! I feel an instant GLOW with both.
Was there a specific moment in your journey that changed your outlook on self-care or wellness?
Throughout this entire journey, I felt overwhelmed by fatigue and nausea, struggling to get out of bed. I made sure I prioritized self-care routines, emphasizing the importance of listening to my body and prioritized my mental health. I continued treating myself as much as I could to things that made me feel good, including trips to We Care Spa and Canyon Ranch, which helped me heal and take care of my mind and body. I also incorporated small practices like daily meditation, gentle yoga, and mindful eating into my routine. This experience taught me that wellness encompasses not just physical health but also mental and emotional well-being. I learned to prioritize my needs, set boundaries, and practice self-compassion, which has become essential to my healing process. Now, I advocate for self-care in the cancer community, encouraging others to find what works for them on their journeys.
What does feeling strong and radiant look like for you today?
Feeling strong and radiant today means embracing a holistic approach to wellness—nurturing my body, mind, and spirit while fostering connections and advocating for others. I celebrate my journey and the resilience I've gained, radiating confidence and positivity in all aspects of my life.
